Fortunately, Mother Nature blessed us with some sunshine and even a few tasty waves just in time for the US Open of Surfing. Unfortunately, with the massive crowds the Open brings to our beaches, there’s always a ton of trash left behind after. So in our weekly effort to give back to the local community, we thought it would be an excellent idea to do another beach cleanup for Treasure Tuesdays.
At the end of the workday, the group assembled at 59th street and trekked north scouring the beach for “sunken treasure“. Just like clockwork, more than a few pairs of “misplaced sandals” were found along the way, a pacifier, and even an elusive yellow army man.
But the most peculiar part of this week’s cleanup was the absurd amount of water bottles that littered the beach (pretty big bummer to see).
Hopefully you can join us for next week’s Treasure Tuesdays as we finish cleaning the last remaining stretch of beach in upper west Newport. Further details on meeting time and location to come soon, so be sure to check back.
