Just as our “case of the Mondays” starts to wear off around 4pm, the moods start to lift quickly at HQ. We have Monday Night Football, some good dinner, and Treasure Tuesdays the next day! Everyone is always excited for Treasure Tuesdays, especially since an unexpected surprise tends to pop up sometime during the day. Yesterday was no exception.
Even under some dark and dreary skies, our day was instantly brightened when we arrived at the Someone Cares Soup Kitchen and were greeted by smiling faces. We picked things up right where we left off last week, and before we knew it we were helping our new friends figure out their nightly homework assignments.
Today’s work ranged from your 5 + 4′s to arranging vocabulary in alphabetical order, remember those days? (things were much simpler back then). Its always fun and exciting to test out our brain capacity while working with our new friends on their daily curriculum.
Unfortunately, the rain and stormy weather last week made for a difficult commute around town and as a result there weren’t as many kids present for some after school help. So the ladies at the Kitchen asked for our assistance preparing some tasty treats for tomorrows patrons. We’re always down to lend a helping hand, so we got right to it. After bagging together several bundles of cupcakes the day was rounding out, and we were glad to see that other local businesses were also doing their part to give back in the form of cuisine. All in all: it was another Tuesday well spent.
As things keep rolling along we will keep the updates flowing and we’d greatly appreciate hearing your feedback. Also if any of you may be interested in starting your own Treasure Tuesdays club on your High School or College campus let us know. We would love to get you guys involved!
