As the weekend flew by in the blink of an eye, it was Tuesday again before we knew it. The Ark Crew was looking forward to ending the day on a good note by getting involved with some Treasure Tuesdays after school tutoring action.
In usual fashion, The Ark Crew made the voyage over to Think Together once things were wrapped up at Ark HQ. After being reunited with all the students at Think Together last Tuesday we couldn’t wait to see what surprises our team, the Marshmallows had in store for us this week.
The moment we walked through the door at Think Together all the students let out a giant “Yessss!!!!” and greeted us bustling with excitement. If we thought the energy level had reached an all time high last week, we had certainly been mistaken!
It was entertaining to see how amped the students were to show us their finished masterpieces from a creative arts projects they had done the week before. Clay sculptures of lions and tigers and bears, oh my – lay sprawled across the desktop and the students pulled us in all directions proudly trying to show us their creations. We complimented each of them on putting those creative talents to work and then jumped into the lesson for the day.
The first task at hand was helping the students beef up their math skills by working on a homework assignment that dealt with inequalities. Once again we were immediately impressed with how dedicated the students are to learning, as the Marshmallows had the concepts down pat. Leaving us the duty of double-checking their answers to make sure they receive the coveted “A+” in class.
Quick as lightning the students finished up the math assignment and were ready for the “fun part of the day,” some good old popcorn reading time about settling in the Old West. Our imaginations ran wild and thoughts of the computer game Oregon Trail we used to play when we were kids swirled through our heads as the students took turns reading out loud to the group. It was awesome to see how passionate and excited the students were to be the next readers of the group and we couldn’t help but smile.
Once the popcorn reading sessions was over the students began packing up their belongings and prepared to head home for the day. As we sat there looking around the room we felt pleased to know these kids who are so dedicated and passionate about their education, will be the same people running our country one day.
Overall, it was an awesome Treasure Tuesdays sessions spent at Think Together filled with laughter, a bit of goofing around, and a whole lot of learning.
