Since the Someone Cares after school tutoring program is closed for the holidays, and the kids are away enjoying their Christmas break. We sat at HQ this Monday afternoon scratching our brains, trying to conjure up a new idea to partake in for Treasure Tuesdays. As the ideas were flowing and nothing was sounding all that appealing. Right then and there we agreed it was time to contact the most informative source known to man- the good old internet.
While perusing around the internet, we stumbled upon an awesome organization’s website called Christmas Trees of Hope. Christmas Trees of Hope helps provide families with christmas trees that would otherwise not be able to afford a tree on their own. Their website said they were in the market for a few tree stands, which got the wheels in our heads spinning. All of a sudden, the “A-Ha I got it!” light bulb went off and an ingenious idea was hatched… If we assembled a quick recycling project, we could use the proceeds to help pay for a Christmas tree stand, and donate it to Christmas Trees of Hope and help a family out!
We scavenged around collecting the water bottles that weren’t already chillin’ in the recycling bin and decided to put them to good use. After a quick stop at the recycling center to turn the salvaged plastic into dollars, and a visit to the closest Christmas tree lot to pick up a stand. We were en route back to HQ , successfully ending our recycling-to-donating mission.
Here are a few shots of what we like to call our “Vinchee Tree“, with the stand underneath!
